What is Bloglovin?

Do you have a Bloglovin account?  Bloglovin is a website that offers you the opportunity to follow the blogs you love all in one newsfeed.  The company was created in Sweden and they wanted to offer a blog reader to their fashion industry bloggin friends.  After launching one week later they had 1000 people signed up and now they have popular blog posts and so many other great features.  My favorite icon from the site to post on your blog is the Eifell Tower logo!

I got an email from Bloglovin after I joined and here are David's top 5 tips on how you can grow your Bloglovin following:

1) Add a Follow Button. Add a Bloglovin follow button on the sidebar of your blog. This will encourage your readers to start following your blog, and as your followers grow, your blog will rank higher on Bloglovin. You can create your own follow button – or you can use one of our standard follow widgets here. http://www.bloglovin.com/widgets Pro Advice: The sidebar is great – but a Bloglovin link in the header works wonders to grow your followers. Pro Example: http://www.fashionsquad.com/

2) Add a Bloglovin Link at the Bottom of Your Blog Posts. Bloggers that add a link at the bottom of every post grow their followers and ranking 5X faster than those that don’t. Pro Example: http://www.littleplastichorses.com/2012/11/flower-shop-and-bohemia.html

3) Put Yourself Out There. One of the best ways to grow your followers is to create a post explaining what Bloglovin does – your readers will also appreciate the tip on better blog reading! Pro Example: http://www.theblondesalad.com/2012/12/bloglovin-new-iphone-app.html

4) Connect Your Blog to Facebook Make sure to connect your blog to Facebook. Bloggers that do get on average, 120 more visitors per post than bloggers that don't. Connect your blog here: http://www.bloglovin.com/myblog

5) Invite Your Friends to Follow Your Blog http://www.bloglovin.com/invite

I’m so happy to be a part of the bloglovin’ family!

Finding Beautiful Free Fall Photos Online

I was listening to a podcast over the weekend and they mentioned a service they use for finding beautiful photos for posting on their blogs and media sites.  The recommended site was Pixabay.com, it's so easy to use and since I was doing some research on creating a fall blog post I thought I'd share my top 10 photos I found on the site.

Which one is your favorite?  I think the funniest one is Kermit the frog in the leaves!

xoxo,
Nicole

What reminds you that it's time for Halloween?

I have been seeing many colors lately that remind me that Fall is coming and that the kids will be excited to celebrate Holiday parties like Halloween.  I love seeing my kids get dressed up in different characters that they can be for the night.  We usually visit our local church, they have an awesome Harvestfest event and then we go to the local neighborhood so the kids can get candy door to door.

Today, I'm participating in the Sharing is Caring Blog Hop, #SharingisCaringBlogHop.

This post is part of the Sharing is Caring Halloween Blog Hop hosted by Life With Lovebugs, Pam’s Party & Practical Tips, and A Spectacled Owl!

What reminds you of Halloween?  Here are a few things I found that reminded me we are getting closer to that fun filled day.

1.  The beautiful Orange color of this Bird of Paradise.
2.  The brilliant range of colors on my orange roses.
3.  New Candy at the check out counter at Walgreens.

4.  Inside the package, the candy is the perfect reminder it's almost Halloween.
5.  Candy Corn is a holiday tradition.

What is Washi Tape? WW

Have you ever heard of Washi tape? It's a form of paper tape that is easily removable and used for crafts and was first made in Japan. I'd never heard of washi tape. I used to collect beautiful paper and stamps to craft till my heart was content.  Then I got busy with life and kids and put my crafting days on hold.  Instagram came into my life and I saw these beautiful crafts being made by some of my new friends.  I bought my first washi tape from my friend Luciana at her shop Sugar Paper Designs.  I ordered the heart tape and a cute camera tape to try and see if I would like creating some fun things.  Here are few of my projects...

Washi tape pencils!  I love them!!

Tape over your design with the washi tape.
Flip over your design and cut off the edges or fold them onto the design.
Add your cut out to a card. Give your new card to the one you love!
What kind of crafts have you made with Washi tape?

Summer Books Worth Reading

How do you choose a book to read?  I admit, I love reading books.  My mother loves shopping at thrift stores and I find myself drawn to the book section.  This last weekend, I found five books for under $10 dollars.  Bargin!

Can't wait to read these books!
I recently received my cousin's Gail Hedrick's book, Something Stinks!  What a great story!  I was captivated from the beginning and didn't want to put it down until the mystery was solved.
Click Here for Chance to Win!

Emily Sanders is a typical seventh grader – reluctant to see the summer end, she is dealing with BFF drama with her friend Leanne as she heads back to school in her small Virginia town and discovers that, well, Something Stinks!. When she stops by to see her Uncle Joe and Aunt Sylvie, Emily gets a whiff of something nasty. Her uncle tells her that now and then scores of dead fish clog the river near his apple orchard. He can’t figure out why and the local authorities haven’t taken much interest in helping him. Once school starts Emily joins her school newspaper and begins looking for stories beyond the middle school world of football and bad cafeteria food. The adventure begins as she explores the science of the river and the businesses that line its banks.

I loved the part where Emily had to start thinking about an apology.  She says, "Apologies were supposed to come from the heart.  Right now, my heart felt squeezed out like a used-up sponge.  And definitely not apologetic."  Don't you ever feel that way?  I know sometimes when I ask the kids to apologize it takes them a while to mumble an apology.  They probably feel similar to the way Emily felt.

Some people Love to read and others find it boring.  I love to go on an adventure and what an easy way to do that with a book that shares all about the special location.  I also enjoy books that share ways to live a better life!

What are your favorites?

Father's Day is Almost here, what are you planning? 5 ideas for our Father's Day!

Father's Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. Many countries celebrate it on the third Sunday of June, but it is also celebrated widely on other days. Father's Day was made a permanent national holiday when President Richard Nixon signed it into law in 1972.

My husband's birthday is 4 days before Father's day so he gets two celebrations within the week.  How do you plan on celebrating?

Here are 5 ideas:

1. Search Pinterest for Father's Day.   Here are a few suggestions I found via Pinterest...  http://pinterest.com/nicoleflothe/fathers-day/

2.  Make a special meal for your loved one!  My family loves Shepard's Pie, I think that would make a great dinner.  So simple, ground hamburger meat, place on bottom layer of square 9x9, add a layer of canned corn, then add mashed potatoes to the top.  The kids add ketchup on top.  Mmm!

3.  Rent a movie that has a great Father type story.  We have Netflix, so I found a few good oldies, Father of the Bride, Field of Dreams, and Mrs. Doubtfire.

4.  Hold hands, give extra hugs, and a few extra kisses!

5.  Ask your Father or Husband what he would like to do on his special day!  Sometimes just by asking you can sit back and enjoy the day spent the way they wanted and not stress over if they like what you did for them.

I hope you enjoyed my ideas and if you have some please share with me by leaving me a comment!

What Do We Teach Each Other Without even Knowing?

"It's the little things done consistently over time, straight from your heart, that actually have the greatest impact." - Unknown
What a great teaching from my Instagram friend @heathersanto
I taught my daughters friend how to make a heart with her hands and shadow.
The Dad's were teaching their boys the fun game of basketball!
My Instagram friend @sugarpaperdesigns, she has the most amazing papercrafts and I love all her beautiful photos!  This one captured my heart <3
The kids were showing us the way to the pool!  Teaching us a new path to follow.
They found the pool entrance.  Teaching us patience, we almost get to swim soon!
The bridge provided a great view of the area and we were taught that alligators sometimes are in the lake.
A simple reminder of stopping to view the flowers is what I teach my kids everyday!

What did you teach today?
