Summer Books Worth Reading

How do you choose a book to read?  I admit, I love reading books.  My mother loves shopping at thrift stores and I find myself drawn to the book section.  This last weekend, I found five books for under $10 dollars.  Bargin!

Can't wait to read these books!
I recently received my cousin's Gail Hedrick's book, Something Stinks!  What a great story!  I was captivated from the beginning and didn't want to put it down until the mystery was solved.

Emily Sanders is a typical seventh grader – reluctant to see the summer end, she is dealing with BFF drama with her friend Leanne as she heads back to school in her small Virginia town and discovers that, well, Something Stinks!. When she stops by to see her Uncle Joe and Aunt Sylvie, Emily gets a whiff of something nasty. Her uncle tells her that now and then scores of dead fish clog the river near his apple orchard. He can’t figure out why and the local authorities haven’t taken much interest in helping him. Once school starts Emily joins her school newspaper and begins looking for stories beyond the middle school world of football and bad cafeteria food. The adventure begins as she explores the science of the river and the businesses that line its banks.

I loved the part where Emily had to start thinking about an apology.  She says, "Apologies were supposed to come from the heart.  Right now, my heart felt squeezed out like a used-up sponge.  And definitely not apologetic."  Don't you ever feel that way?  I know sometimes when I ask the kids to apologize it takes them a while to mumble an apology.  They probably feel similar to the way Emily felt.

Some people Love to read and others find it boring.  I love to go on an adventure and what an easy way to do that with a book that shares all about the special location.  I also enjoy books that share ways to live a better life!

How do you Create a Free Filter on your photograph?

The other day my husband and I had an amazing view of this great row of clouds.  By accident I lifted my camera a little bit too high and added the pattern filter from my car.  I like how it changes the photo and adds a texture that I wouldn't have normally.

What other natural filters do you enjoy adding to your photos?

How do you Create a Quote Photo? WW entry

I have been experimenting with creating quote photos on my iPhone.  I really like the new app I recently downloaded called Whims, it took me a little while to get used to it but I finally figured it out.  It's similar to Instagram but people post quotes, liking and sharing each others favorites, and following those new friends you make within Whims.  The second quote I made was with my newest app called Shapely.  They have so many shapes and designs, then you simply add your words to a picture you choose from your photo album and save the quote photo.  Presto, you have created a quote photo!  The last quote photo I found via my Tumblr account, such a great eye catcher!  Do you call them quote photos, picture photos, image quotes, what every you call them let me know.

What is your best tool you use to create quote photos?

What are your plans this summer? Gardening, Skywatching, or becoming an Artist? WW entry

Rainy Pink Roses
Pink and Yellow Sunset
Pretty Lovely Cheerleader
Happy Times at Cheerleading
Relax and Enjoy the Skyline
This is officially the last day of school for my kids!  They had a half day and we are now enjoying the rest of the day together.  It's been raining a lot in Naples lately.  I guess that's what summer brings, amazing afternoon showers.  My flowers seem to like it and some of my trees are growing taller.  What are you doing this summer?  Any great plans or are you just going to relax?  My daughter is having fun with her new cheerleaders she has been drawing, I keep seeing them all over the house.  I don't have any big plans this summer, just to take it easy and sleep in.  I'm also looking forward to a flexible schedule with the kids! Happy Summer Time!
