I love Cookie Monster

I watched the recent Spreecast with Cookie Monster from Sesame Street with my daughter Elizabeth. She is seven and during the show she was asking me if Cookie Monster was real! I asked her what she thought, she said he is very funny and she loves his rolling eyes.

This year is the new Season 44 of Award-Winning Preschool series Sesame Street on PBS Kids with a hilarious new segment "Cookie's Crumby Pictures." I grew up watching Sesame Street, and always loved the fun cast members and the many celebrity appearances.

Did you know that Cookie Monster is teaching our kids a message? During the program new self-regulation curriculum teaches children to learn critical skills directly linked to school readiness and future academic success. In each five-minute segment of "Cookie's Crumby Pictures" children will learn many strategies and activities that promote self-regulation.

What is self-regulation? They are critical skills, such as being able to follow directions, stay on task with focused attention and regulate emotions using concrete strategies.

There will be seven upcoming hilarious spoofs, including "Life of Whoopie Pie," "The Spy Who Loved Cookies," "Les Mousserables" and "The Hungry Games," we'll see Cookie Monster attempt to master executive function skills - a key component of self-regulation. He'll display self-control (try not to eat the cookie), delayed gratification (eat the cookie later), flexible thinking (think about something else so you don't eat the cookie), working memory (remember a strategy that worked before to keep from eating the cookie) and task persistence (being motivated to not give up while waiting to eat the cookie).

After we watched the Spreecast, I talked to Lizzie about her day. During our ride home she wanted a drink of water so bad, she was a bit like Cookie Monster. We talked about tolerance and self-control and how Cookie Monster waited to eat his cookie. It was fun being able to use him as a learning example. Even though Sesame Street is to help get Preschoolers ready for school, I believe we can all learn something from the sweet and funny characters on the program.

Now, I'm off to eat a cookie!

What reminds you that it's time for Halloween?

I have been seeing many colors lately that remind me that Fall is coming and that the kids will be excited to celebrate Holiday parties like Halloween.  I love seeing my kids get dressed up in different characters that they can be for the night.  We usually visit our local church, they have an awesome Harvestfest event and then we go to the local neighborhood so the kids can get candy door to door.

Today, I'm participating in the Sharing is Caring Blog Hop, #SharingisCaringBlogHop.

This post is part of the Sharing is Caring Halloween Blog Hop hosted by Life With LovebugsPam’s Party & Practical Tips, and A Spectacled Owl!

What reminds you of Halloween?  Here are a few things I found that reminded me we are getting closer to that fun filled day.

1.  The beautiful Orange color of this Bird of Paradise.
2.  The brilliant range of colors on my orange roses.
3.  New Candy at the check out counter at Walgreens.

4.  Inside the package, the candy is the perfect reminder it's almost Halloween.
5.  Candy Corn is a holiday tradition.

Do you have a Dream Pool?

Since I live in Florida one of my dreams is having a beautiful pool and having it completely maintained!  I have yet to own a pool but I do love the look of an infinity pool if I was to choose my dream pool.  I like how your view continues with the sea or landscape and makes it look infinite.

What type of Pool is your Dream Pool?
Infinity Pool in Marco Island from iEscapeaway.com Vacation Homes
Infinity is the quality or state of endlessness or unboundedness in terms of time, space, or other quantity.

Have a Nice Day!

Every morning I bring my children to school and they have fifth graders that open the door for them to get out of the car.  The kids that offer this service are donating their time and they are given the title of Safety Patrol.  I'm not sure if they're taught to say a few kind words when they close the door of my car but it really touched me this morning.  The young boy said, "Have a nice day!"  It's amazing the power of words.  After he said that and smiled I felt happier and wanted to make sure I said that to all my friends and family today!  So, I hope you all Have a Nice Day!  Below are a few ways to brighten your day via photos.

Yolkchicago posted this cheerful breakfast photo.  I feel happier just seeing it!
I found this random heart on my lid of Yoplait the other day!  This sure made my day!
Stopping to smell the flowers and admire their beauty!  - Have a Nice Day!
Taking a moment to look at the endless view! - Have a Nice Day!

How Do You Get Your Kids to Try Something New

How do you get your kids to try something new?  You make it a learning experience!  I recently was given the opportunity to review Dermagist and was thrilled that my son Nathan would be able to try the product.  He is 13 and we are just learning the benefits of using cleansers and skincare treatments to keep the skin clean and healthy.  Our Pediatrician told us when we went for his annual checkup that a diet high in fruits and less fast food would also be beneficial.

Nathan reads the benefits of Dermagist
We received the Clarifying System for Acne Prone Skin.
Nathan is happy to give it a try!
We've used the Dermagist for over two weeks now and I see a great improvement in Nathan's skin. I'm glad to say it's now a routine for him to care for his skin.  I don't have to remind him and the Dermagist system is easy to follow. Since we like the system we thought it would be nice to offer another giveaway this month.  Enter to win your own via our rafflecopter below...

Giveaway Limited Edition YOYO Lip Gloss

Recently, I was contacted by YOYO Lip Gloss to review their NEW Limited Edition Justice Initial YOYO Lip Glosses.  These amazing lip glosses feature a full face of Bling with beautiful Initial letters in the center of the reel covered with high shining glitters.

These limited edition glosses are only available at Justice Shops and on www.shopjustice.com

Since I have a daughter that loves everything sweet and fashionable, I new it would be a winner!  We got the three samples in the mail in a cute pink box and Lizzie immediately wanted to open the package and see what was inside!  I told her it was the YOYO Lip Gloss and that I had to take a few pictures before she could select the one that she wanted.  The ones they sent us were the initial N, a lovely Heart design, and a cute smile design :)  I was excited about the N, for me, but I patiently waited for Lizzie to select the one that she wanted.  She chose the N and said that it could be a Z and would be a letter in her name.  I was happy to have the heart gloss as my choice, hearts are always at the top of my list of favorites!  I love their slogan - Never at a loss for your gloss!  The first thing Lizzie found was that the YOYO Lip gloss had a retractable feature and that she could clip it on her hip.  In the photos below she wanted to share how she had her new lip gloss on her hip and then pulled it to gloss her lips.  She was so excited!  Clip it on your hip and swirl it on your lips!

Enter our Giveaway below to win a YoYoLipGloss of your own!

Our Samples of YOYO Lip Gloss!
